Wiener-Anspach Fellow Salvatore Iavarone, PhD in Engineering Science (ULB), recently published a paper in the journal “Proceedings of the Combustion Institute” (available here). Entitled “An a priori assessment of the Partially Stirred Reactor (PaSR) model for MILD combustion”, the paper presents some of the results of the research carried out by Dr Iavarone at the University of Cambridge in the framework of his fellowship. “The paper”, says Dr Iavarone, “focuses on the modeling of the enhanced turbulence-chemistry interactions that occur in Moderate or Intense Low-oxygen Dilution (MILD) combustion. MILD combustion is a cleaner and more efficient combustion regime. The validation of a model (i.e., the Partially Stirred Reactor model) for the turbulence-chemistry interactions in MILD combustion shows promising results, as reported in the article”. The paper has also been accepted for oral presentation at the upcoming “38th International Symposium on Combustion”, which will take place in Adelaide in January.
