Like every year, the Wiener-Anspach Foundation is delighted to present its Activity Report. While health measures prevented us from organising public events during 2021, we were very happy to be able to resume our funding programme for collaborative research projects between the Université libre de Bruxelles and the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, as well as our postgraduate fellowship programme in Oxbridge. This report presents our 2021-2022 Fellows and the research projects selected for the 2022-2024 funding period. You will also find an interview with our Alumna Clémence Mathieu, Director of the International Carnival and Mask Museum, other news about our Alumni, and much more… Enjoy the read!
We would like to thank our Fellow Hannah De Corte, who allowed us to use a photograph of one of her works to illustrate the cover and summary of this report. Hannah, PhD in Art and Arts Sciences (ULB), is currently based in Oxford, where she is carrying out a postdoctoral research project entitled “Emergent Images. Technical and Aesthetic Role of Canvas in ‘Impressionist’ Paintings, with a Particular Focus on Ashmolean Museum’s Collection”. The Patinoire Royale – Galerie Valérie Bach (Rue Veydt, 15 – 1060 Saint-Gilles) is hosting her exhibition ‘Self-Play’ from 1 April to 28 May.
