The Phyllis Beddington Wiener Chair is a teaching and research chair welcoming at the Université libre de Bruxelles academics from the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford working in all fields.
Chair holders, invited as Visiting Professor, must spend 1 or 2 months at ULB to work on the proposed research project in collaboration with their ULB colleague(s). They must also give 12 hours of teaching (lectures and/or seminars) and deliver an inaugural or closing public lecture at ULB, aimed at a general audience, on the subject of their research.
Their stay can be divided into two one-month stays.
Applications must be submitted by a full-time permanent member of the ULB academic staff, in their own name or on behalf of a group of ULB academics and researchers.
FUNDING
Chair holders are awarded a non-taxable research grant (£3,500/month of stay) called subside à savant.
Host promoters will have their disposal:
– EUR 3,000/month of stay to cover the chair holder’s travel and accommodation.
– 1,000 EUR/month of stay for research-related operating costs.
