On May 12, 2025, at the awards ceremony of the ULB Faculty of Law and Criminology, Rebecca Mirzabekiantz was awarded the Ganshof van der Meersch Prize. Established by our Foundation in 1994, this prize rewards the merits of a student with an exemplary academic record and who earned their Master of Law degree at the ULB, specializing in public and international law.
After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Law at ULB in 2022, Rebecca Mirzabekiantz obtained a dual Master’s degree in 2024 (Public and International Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and Public Business Law from the Université Grenoble Alpes). That same year, she was admitted to the Brussels Bar and joined the law firm deprevernet.
During the ceremony, the Foundation’s Executive Director, Kristin Bartik, also congratulated Eugénie Delval, recipient of the Ganshof van der Meersch Prize in 2017, who was awarded the Joseph Hubert Helsen Prize for her doctoral thesis titled “Humanitarian visas for international protection purposes: Defining EU Member States’ obligations under international and European human rights law.” This prize rewards a legal thesis aimed at promoting individual advancement in society by proposing reforms, rather than merely providing an overview of the current situation.
We extend our warmest congratulations once again to Rebecca and Eugénie and wish them all the best in their professional journey!
